This Fall we experimented with introducing programing through hardware projects. We used the $25, Ritz-cracker-sized, sensor-packed CircuitPlayground Express microcontroller to go from block-style MakeCode to CircuitPython over just two classes. Students were then released to create their own projects and share their creations with the class. The video above gives a sense of what they accomplished, and there’s more content at the Medium post: “Unexpectedly Awesome…” Hardware Programming in a Freshmen-Level Business School Core Class

An earlier post details student in-class sessions, with a fun video of students using accelerometers and infra-red technology to solve problems and get rewards. You can find video files for much of the content we used at: http://bit.ly/GallaugherYouTube
